Our sailing
Our seven-night Mediterranean journey traveled from Barcelona to Rome, calling at Palma de Mallorca, Tunis, Valletta, Giardini Naxos and Sorrento. That route let us experience the ship on relaxed sea time as well as during a series of very different port days.
The suite feels like somewhere you can live
Our Ocean Terrace Suite gave us a genuine sitting area, thoughtful storage and a private terrace—not simply a bed beside a balcony door. The separation between sleeping and living space mattered after long days ashore.

Public spaces without the crowd
The ship’s most persuasive quality is space. The Lobby Bar works as a social center without feeling like a cavernous atrium, while the outdoor decks offer several places to settle in rather than one overwhelming main pool scene.

Entertainment is present, not overpowering
Evening entertainment feels intimate and optional. This is not a ship built around enormous production shows, constant announcements or a packed activity schedule. For us, that quieter rhythm was part of the appeal.

What was not perfect
Not every element of a cruise is controlled by the ship. Our organized visit to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said ran later than expected, including a late lunch. That experience reinforced an important planning lesson: the cruise line may be excellent while a particular excursion format is still a poor match for your preferred pace.
Who should choose Explora Journeys?
Choose it if you value contemporary luxury, quiet space, flexible days and a more residential atmosphere. Look elsewhere if your priority is waterslides, large theatrical productions, a highly structured daily schedule or traditional formal nights.
Frequently asked questions
Is Explora Journeys adults-only?
No. Families are welcome, but the atmosphere and onboard experience are designed primarily around sophisticated adult travelers.
Does Explora I feel crowded?
It did not on our sailing. Multiple lounges and pool areas distributed guests naturally throughout the ship.
Is an Ocean Terrace Suite worth it?
For travelers who value a real sitting area and private outdoor space, it is a major part of the experience—not merely a place to sleep.
